What a great topic, and thank you Darrin for starting off the weeks discussion with such a powerful beginning.
What is the soul? Do we all have one? And where can I get one, just in case?
Well, they do not sell them at walmart, and we all have one, and it is that piece of us that loves, that sees the sunrise in every sunset, that sees the flower blooming as you are planting the seed, that sees the love in every lover past, present and future and still has a little love left over for those eyes looking back at you from the mirror.
The soul is that one gift that brings us so close to the divine that we realize we are the divine. If we are created in the image of the great one in the sky, then we are all great. The soul reminds us how to live. Sometimes we get so caught up in our worlds that we forget to sit and just listen to the signing of birds, because even the caged bird sings. We have to learn to tear down the cages we've trapped ourselves in and start living, flying, and becoming one.
There are many theories as to where the soul is, where it comes from and where it goes when we die. Sometimes we spend so much time worrying and we forget to live. We do everything we are told, we give money to the church, we give an occasional dollar to the homeless, and we pray... but we forget to live. We forget what it is like to make forts in our backyards, we forget the taste of play dough spaghetti, we forget that every box is a race car and plane... we forget how to play, to live, and to connect to our soul. We don't need something outside of us to believe in ourselves.
Through this week I am going to discuss some of my own work in connecting with my own soul, and I will also give you a few meditations to help move you into a place of connection with yours. Take time this week to play. Pick up some silly putty, play dough, or just dance. Don't forget to smile... :-)
Much love and light,
Mike-
